The fifth event of the 2026 edition of Heritage at Hand at CroAtrium, the programme of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) promoting Croatia’s national library collection, spotlighted the publications in which Sherlock Holmes’s Croatian impostor hid for decades. In her lecture, Professor at the Department of English Studies of the University of Rijeka’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Antonija Primorac presented the research as part of which she “caught” the fraudulent hero and its findings.

Latest acquisition to NSK Foreign Croatica Collection spotlighting legacy of Croats in South Africa

Members of the Croatian diaspora in South Africa Mary Anne Sinovich and Elena Anne Bielich donated to the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) a comprehensive monograph documenting generations-long legacy of South African Croats. Soon to be available to NSK’s users as part of the NSK Foreign Croatica Collection, the monograph is a valuable addition to almost 12,000 titles which the Collection currently holds. Entitled The Life, Times and Legacy of Our Grandparents, it offers insight into the contribution of Croats to their local communities, their efforts to preserve their Croatian identity and close ties with their ancestors’ homeland.

Items from the archive of the doyen of Croatian visual poetry Borben Vladović preserved in Croatia’s national library collection are on view at an exhibition opened as part of the fourth event of the National and University Library in Zagreb’s (NSK) 2026 Heritage at Hand at CroAtrium programme.
