NSK part of “Supercharged by AI”, creative project addressing artificial intelligence-related challenges  

Recognising the significance of responding to challenges resulting from the swift rise of artificial intelligence, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) has joined Supercharged by AI, an innovative initiative which Tactical Tech and DensityDesign Lab have developed in collaboration with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).

Joining forces to increase digital literacy among the general population, particularly with regard to the advance of artificial intelligence and its potential use in scams and various forms of harassment, as well as in creating social polarisation and bias, the Berlin-based Tactical Tech and DesnityDesign Lab, operating as part of the largest Italian technical university (Politecnico di Milano – Polimi), have created an exhibition which brings complex AI-related concepts and issues closer to average citizens.

A powerful tool for navigating the digital sphere to be promoted by libraries

NSK and other libraries and library associations from ten European countries will be presenting the initiative to their users and local communities, whose participation in a wide range of the project’s planned activities is expected to result in the increase of digital literacy and a greater readiness among the general population to better adapt to the contemporary rapidly changing digital landscape.

A particularly valuable tool which will be made available as part of the project, in which NSK will be joined by several other Croatian libraries, is Data Detox Kit, offering practical tips and guides about AI, digital privacy, security, wellbeing, misinformation, health data, tech and the environment, and all other spheres and issues related to the daily online lives of average citizens of all ages.
