Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan visits NSK
On 24 June 2025, a delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov visited the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK).
The visit was organised on the initiative of His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia Anar Imanov, who emphasised the Library’s role as Croatia’s major cultural institution.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the NSK Director General Professor Ivanka Stričević and a member of the NSK Information Centre Ana-Marija Tkalčić. Professor Stričević briefly presented NSK’s history and mission, pointing out the programme of activities aimed at marking the 30th anniversary of the Library’s relocation to its current building.
Bringing together centuries of heritage and contemporary library services
After admiring the panoramic view of Zagreb which may be enjoyed from the Library’s fifth floor, the delegation visited the NSK Official Publications Collection and the Library’s user areas for students, learning more about the Library’s digital collections at the NSK Information Centre.
Also, the delegation showed particular interest in the study pods available on Floor 1, as an example of up-to-date digital learning facilities making a vital part of contemporary library services.
The delegation’s visit to the NSK Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection included the presentation of the invaluable copies of works from the earliest period of Croatian literature in which HE Jafarov took special interest, signing the Collection’s visitors’ book.

The visit closed with the exchange of gifts presenting both countries’ rich cultural heritage, in the spirit of openness and readiness for culture- and education-focused cooperation between the Library and Azerbaijani institutions.
