<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\nNSK Director General Dr Ivanka Stri\u010devi\u0107 and President of the Sinj Community Association in Zagreb Dr Jakov \u017di\u017ei\u0107.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nOutstanding scholar and indispensable part of NSK\u2019s history<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\nWelcoming the symposium participants, the NSK Director General Dr Ivanka Stri\u010devi\u0107 emphasised Juri\u0107\u2019s major contribution to the Library\u2019s development as the Head of its Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection<\/a>, in which position he dedicatedly worked for over three decades, from 1946 to 1979. The symposium participants were also greeted by the President of the Sinj Community Association in Zagreb Dr Jakov \u017di\u017ei\u0107, who later also presented Juri\u0107 as a native of Sinj<\/a>, a centuries-old city in the heart of the Dalmatian hinterland.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe symposium\u2019s first part featured presentations by Juri\u0107\u2019s contemporaries, associates and family members. Apart from Dunja Juri\u0107-Kne\u017eevi\u0107, the speakers, who reminisced about Juri\u0107 and revealed many interesting details about him as both a scholar and a person, were Dra\u017een Budi\u0161a, who managed the most valuable part of NSK\u2019s holdings<\/a> at the time when Juri\u0107 still headed the Library\u2019s oldest special collection, Croatian journalist, writer and translator Marko Gr\u010di\u0107, Tomislav Barhanovi\u0107 and Father Vatroslav Frkin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\nFormer collections manager of the most valuable part of the NSK collections Dra\u017een Budi\u0161a and Head of the NSK Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection Dr Irena Gali\u0107 Be\u0161ker.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\u0160ime Juri\u0107 \u2013 avid researcher of early Croatian books and his native region<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\nIn the second part of the symposium\u2019s programme, today’s Head of the Collection Dr Irena Gali\u0107 Be\u0161ker gave a more comprehensive overview of Juri\u0107\u2019s contributions to present-day Collection\u2019s absolute relevance in understanding Croatian and European literary and historical heritage, especially incunabula, also including in her analysis his academic achievement in the field of classical philology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Professor at the Zagreb University<\/a>\u2019s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Neven Jovanovi\u0107 and Assistant Professor at the University\u2019s Faculty of Croatian Studies<\/a> presented their insights into Juri\u0107\u2019s scholarly work, Juri\u0107\u2019s manuscripts in the Collection were presented by the Collection\u2019s members Karolina Tumbas and Ivan Kapec.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMembers of the NSK Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection Karolina Tumbas and Ivan Kapec.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nJuri\u0107 successfully combined his passion for research with his love of his native region, making many important discoveries about its history, customs and rich cultural heritage. The symposium\u2019s first part featured presentations by Juri\u0107\u2019s contemporaries, associates and family members. Apart from Dunja Juri\u0107-Kne\u017eevi\u0107, the speakers, who reminisced about Juri\u0107 and revealed many interesting details about him as both a scholar and a person, were Dra\u017een Budi\u0161a, who managed the most valuable part of NSK\u2019s holdings<\/a> at the time when Juri\u0107 still headed the Library\u2019s oldest special collection, Croatian journalist, writer and translator Marko Gr\u010di\u0107, Tomislav Barhanovi\u0107 and Father Vatroslav Frkin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the second part of the symposium\u2019s programme, today’s Head of the Collection Dr Irena Gali\u0107 Be\u0161ker gave a more comprehensive overview of Juri\u0107\u2019s contributions to present-day Collection\u2019s absolute relevance in understanding Croatian and European literary and historical heritage, especially incunabula, also including in her analysis his academic achievement in the field of classical philology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After Professor at the Zagreb University<\/a>\u2019s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Neven Jovanovi\u0107 and Assistant Professor at the University\u2019s Faculty of Croatian Studies<\/a> presented their insights into Juri\u0107\u2019s scholarly work, Juri\u0107\u2019s manuscripts in the Collection were presented by the Collection\u2019s members Karolina Tumbas and Ivan Kapec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Juri\u0107 successfully combined his passion for research with his love of his native region, making many important discoveries about its history, customs and rich cultural heritage.
