Register<\/a> for Public Libraries in the Digital World<\/a><\/em>, the 15th<\/sup> Croatian Conference on Public Libraries, which the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) is organising from 8 to 11 October 2025 at the Vinkovci City Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organised through NSK\u2019s cooperation with the Vinkovci public library, Croatian Library Association<\/a> and the Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem Library Association<\/a> and supported by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media<\/a>, the Conference\u2019s 15th<\/sup> anniversary edition spotlights the public libraries\u2019 development into institutions with a significant role in the context of digital transition which they perform through a wide range of activities and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public libraries \u2013 essential in a digitally-focused world<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using the latest technologies to cater to their users\u2019 needs, public libraries today are increasingly transforming into leading innovation, education and inclusion hubs, at the same time remaining the guardians of heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting in these two main capacities, public libraries are on the one hand increasingly digitising their services by offering access to e-books, online journals, databases and other electronic resources, but on the other hand are also enabling their patrons very access to computers and a wide range of other advanced devices functioning as the gateways to the digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the tradition of promoting literacy, they organise programmes focusing on the development of digital skills, related digital and information literacies and critical thinking. Public libraries strongly support their local communities, be it through initiatives aimed at the digitisation of materials documenting a community\u2019s history and development or at using various digital platforms prompting members of a community to communicate, cooperate and exchange ideas in better, faster and more efficient ways.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting as the partners in the Conference\u2019s organisation are the National and University Library in Ljubljana<\/a> (Narodna in univerzitetna knji\u017enica Ljubljana, NUK), Slovenian Library Association<\/a> (Zveza bibliotekarskih dru\u0161tev Slovenije, ZBDS) and Slovenian Public Libraries Association<\/a> (Zdru\u017eenje splo\u0161nih knji\u017enic).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
