On 24 June 2025, a delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by the Azerbaijan\u2019s Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov<\/a> visited the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit was organised on the initiative of His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia Anar Imanov, who emphasised the Library\u2019s role as Croatia\u2019s major cultural institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the NSK Director General Professor Ivanka Stri\u010devi\u0107 and a member of the NSK Information Centre Ana-Marija Tkal\u010di\u0107. Professor Stri\u010devi\u0107 briefly presented NSK\u2019s history<\/a> and mission<\/a>, pointing out the programme of activities aimed at marking the 30th<\/sup> anniversary of the Library\u2019s relocation to its current building<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing together centuries of heritage and contemporary library services<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After admiring the panoramic view of Zagreb<\/a> which may be enjoyed from the Library\u2019s fifth floor, the delegation visited the NSK Official Publications Collection and the Library\u2019s user areas for students, learning more about the Library\u2019s digital collections<\/a> at the NSK Information Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the delegation showed particular interest in the study pods<\/a> available on Floor 1, as an example of up-to-date digital learning facilities making a vital part of contemporary library services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation\u2019s visit to the NSK Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection<\/a> included the presentation of the invaluable copies of works from the earliest period of Croatian literature<\/a> in which HE Jafarov took special interest, signing the Collection\u2019s visitors\u2019 book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit closed with the exchange of gifts presenting both countries\u2019 rich cultural heritage, in the spirit of openness and readiness for culture- and education-focused cooperation<\/a> between the Library and Azerbaijani institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
