On 2 July 2025, at 12.00, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will host a special programme as part of the 14th<\/sup> Miroslav Krle\u017ea Festival<\/a>, the 2025 edition of the annual cultural festival commemorating Miroslav Krle\u017ea (1893-1981)<\/a>, the giant of Croatia\u2019s 20th<\/sup>-century literature and one of its greatest minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Festival, which will this year be taking place from 28 June to 7 July, will once more bring together the leading authorities on Krle\u017ea and Krle\u017ea enthusiasts of various profiles and certainly create new Krle\u017ea\u2019s readers through its rich programme<\/a>. Apart from several venues in Zagreb, the Festival\u2019s map this year will also include Koprivnica, whose museum will host part of the Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA living monument to Krle\u017ea\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In presenting this year\u2019s Festival, its founder, author and director Goran Matovi\u0107 announced the staging of several Krle\u017ea\u2019s works, an exhibition, roundtable and other festival events. Traditionally spotlighting Krle\u017ea as an always relevant author, the Festival is this year placing particular focus on the centenary of the publication of his travelogue Journey to Russia<\/a><\/em>, whose staging at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts<\/a> will open the Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with the main programme at the Academy and the Zagreb Dance Centre<\/a>, the Festival events will also be taking place at the Croatian State Archives<\/a>, Josip Ra\u010di\u0107 Modern Gallery<\/a>, Koprivnica Museum and, of course, at NSK, the Festival\u2019s partner since its inception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A get-together and exhibition showcasing Krle\u017ea\u2019s manuscripts <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the exhibition of Krle\u017ea\u2019s manuscripts preserved as part of its holdings<\/a>, NSK will again join the Festival in honouring Krle\u017ea as the leading figure of Croatian modern literature, a partaker in and astute chronicler of the turbulent events of the 20th<\/sup> century and the initiator of various cultural initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring Krle\u017ea\u2019s manuscripts preserved at NSK according to his own express wish, the exhibition and the accompanying get-together will reveal new details about the life and work of this canonical Croatian writer, noted for his always loud, clear and uncompromising denunciation of all ideologies and phenomena detrimental to society and the individual human being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from the Festival\u2019s Director Goran Matovi\u0107 and Head of the NSK Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection<\/a> Dr Irena Gali\u0107 Be\u0161ker, other participants in the get-together will be Professor Lada \u010cale Feldman from the Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences<\/a>, Dr Suzana Marjani\u0107 from the Zagreb Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research<\/a>, writer Marko Gregur and Pavle Bon\u010da, from The Miroslav Krle\u017ea Institute of Lexicography<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
