On 14 April 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) launched Heritage at Hand at CroAtrium<\/em>, its 2025 programme aimed at the popularisation of Croatian cultural heritage which it preserves as part of Croatica<\/a><\/em>, Croatia\u2019s national library collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting with a lecture by historian and geographer Dr Dubravka Mlinari\u0107 from the Croatian Institute for Migration Research (IMIN)<\/a>, the programme first spotlighted the invaluable cartographic material documenting Croatian statehood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CroAtrium \u2013 bringing Croatica <\/em>closer to everyone<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Immersing the programme participants in the fascinating world of 16th<\/sup>-century cartographers Lazarus Secretarius and Wolfgang Lazius<\/a>, Dr Mlinari\u0107 presented the lecture at CroAtrium, which offers NSK\u2019s users, visitors and the general public opportunities to interact with the treasures making Croatica<\/em>, curated by NSK as the Croatian national library collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a follow-up to the lecture the programme visitors were able to see first-hand a selection of 16th<\/sup>– and 17th<\/sup>-century maps from the NSK Map Collection<\/a>, which this year celebrates the 80th<\/sup> anniversary of its founding and whose digitised holdings<\/a> are available on the NSK Digital Collections<\/a><\/em> website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Heritage at Hand at CroAtrium<\/em> programme continues in May, with a special presentation focusing on Faust Vran\u010di\u0107, \u201cthe Croatian Leonardo da Vinci\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
