On 11 December 2024, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted the presentation of a print portfolio by an award-wining Croatian painter, sculptor and graphic artist Dra\u017een Trogrli\u0107<\/a> (Galakti\u010dki ples \/ Galactic dance<\/em>) which will be displayed in the Library\u2019s grand lobby by 19 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Published by NSK, the portfolio\u2019s 15 prints convey the author\u2019s vision inspired by the immense and infinite galactic expanses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation opened with a welcome address by the NSK Director General Professor Ivanka Stri\u010devi\u0107 and an introduction by the Head of the NSK Print Collection<\/a> Tamara Ili\u0107 Oluji\u0107, who provided a brief overview of the Collection\u2019s years-long fruitful cooperation with Trogrli\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trogrli\u0107\u2019s work was then presented by Dr Milan Pelc, from the Croatian Institute of Art History<\/a>, who authored several analyses and reviews focusing on Trogrli\u0107 and his oeuvre, of which he gave an overview. Last, Trogrli\u0107 himself briefly addressed the present visitors and presented the latest of his portfolios published by the Library as well as his inspiration for its creation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sequel to a successful art-driven cooperation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Library\u2019s cooperation in 2024 with this distinguished Croatian artist, who has been enriching the national art scene for over 40 years and during that time proved himself skilful in working with a wide array of media, comes as a sequel to several previous successful similar collaborations. The NSK Print Collection has cooperated with Trogrli\u0107 since 1986, when the Library and the Vara\u017edin City Museum<\/a> jointly published Trogrli\u0107\u2019s linocut print portfolio (Isku\u0161enja ju\u017enih mora<\/a><\/em> [The temptations of the southern seas]. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, apart from the 2001 Trogrli\u0107\u2019s art monograph<\/a>, published by the Library and the <\/a>Klovi\u0107evi dvori Gallery<\/a>, the Library and Trogrli\u0107 published another two portfolios (Povratak uo\u010di odlaska<\/a><\/em> [A return on the eve of leaving], 1987, with the Me\u0111imurje Museum in \u010cakovec acting as the co-publisher; Predavanje o dimovima [A Lecture on Smoke]<\/a><\/em>, 2006) and the 2023 art monograph (Crte\u017e kao otkrivanje svijeta: radovi na papiru Dra\u017eena Trogrli\u0107a = Drawing as Discovery of the World: Dra\u017een Trogrli\u0107<\/a><\/em>) in which Dr Pelc undertook the first ever comprehensive analysis of Trogrli\u0107\u2019s artwork on paper, a segment of his oeuvre persistently present throughout all periods of his work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
