The fifth edition of Heritage at Hand at CroAtrium, the 2025 programme of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) promoting and popularising the Croatian national library collection, will be held on 29 October 2025, as part of this year’s Croatian Book Month programme. Spotlighting books created as works of art, mainly visual art, the programme will feature a lecture by Professor at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts Tanja Dabo, who will present the specific characteristics of artists’ books and other forms of art books.

The treasures preserved in the collections of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will be featured as part of “IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE KINGDOM”, a joint exhibition organised under the auspices of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media as the central event of Croatia’s celebration in 2025 of well over a millennium since the establishment of the Kingdom of Croatia. Opening on 16 October 2025, at 19.00, at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery, the exhibition will present the essential elements of Croatian statehood from the time of its first native rulers up until 1918.

On 2 July 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted another special get-together and exhibition commemorating Miroslav Krleža (1893-1981), one of the most distinguished, world-famous Croatian writers and thinkers of all time. Held as part of the 14th Miroslav Krleža Festival, which is taking place by 7 July 2025, the programme once more brought together the leading authorities on Krleža and included the exhibition of Krleža’s manuscripts which NSK preserves as part of its Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection.
