NSK digital collections
Since 2004, NSK has systematically been digitising its holdings, as much for the purpose of their protection and long-term preservation as for the purpose of providing as wide as possible access to them, especially to their greatest treasures, such as those preserved as part of NSK’s special collections.
Apart from the digital copies of items in NSK’s physical collections, NSK digital collections include e-books, electronic serials, online content, digital scores, e-theses and other electronic legal deposit material.
NSK reading rooms collections
Apart from Croatian and foreign academic publications comprising the collection which NSK compiles as the central library of the University of Zagreb and makes available in its reading rooms, several other specially curated collections bringing together library material related to specific themes or areas are also available in NSK’s reading rooms.
CROATICA – Croatia’s national library collection
CROATICA, Croatia’s national collection preserved and managed by NSK, brings together books and non-book material published by Croatian publishers and authors as well as publications in the Croatian language and those thematising Croatia and Croats.
It is precisely CROATICA, officially registered as Croatia’s national heritage asset, which makes NSK’s holdings unique in Croatia both in terms of content and size and vital in terms of their contribution to the advancement and preservation of Croatia’s national and cultural identity.
