Register by 13 May 2024 for the Thirteenth Festival of Croatian Digitisation Projects, which the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will host on 16 and 17 May 2024.

The Thirteenth Festival of Croatian Digitisation Projects, the 2024 edition of D-fest, the Library’s annual conference spotlighting issues surrounding the digitisation of cultural and scientific heritage, will once again bring together experts in heritage digitisation and digital collection management who will present their work in the past year and share the latest professional insights they gained as part of digitisation projects at the national and local levels.

Presenting the latest developments in managing Croatia’s digital heritage

The programme of this year’s Festival will present the latest developments in the management of digital cultural heritage in Croatia, results of successful digitisation projects and projects aimed at the development of the infrastructure required for effectively managing digital cultural heritage and integrating related data, successfully promoting digital cultural heritage and improving digitisation-related educational programmes, as well as for adopting a suitable approach to the role in digitisation and digital heritage management of artificial intelligence and for gaining a new perspective on digital heritage and its use.

Croatia’s first two decades of heritage digitisation

After Croatia’s first two decades of heritage digitisation, the 2024 D-fest spotlights the need for properly assessing Croatian digital heritage collections and using the assessment results to establish the extent to which digitisation and digital content are important for heritage users, as well as for heritage collections themselves.

The Festival’s programme’s highlight in this context will of course be the presentation of the results of eCulture, Croatia’s 2019-2023 major digitisation project focusing on cultural heritage, and the experiences of professionals who worked on it.

Workshops on Europeana Impact Framework

The Festival’s participants will also have the opportunity to attend workshops on Europeana Impact Framework, Europeana’s tool for evaluating and measuring the impact of digital cultural heritage, and on the significance of mapping, but also standardising information regarding the copyright status of digital library resources.
