On 23 April 2024, marking this year’s World Book and Copyright Day and Croatian Book Day (22 April), the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will host the opening of the 13th edition of the Croatian Book Night. As Croatia’s annual national programme focusing on the popularisation of reading and promotion of books, the Croatian Book Night will again promote a wider public debate on the social status of the book and the importance of values associated with it in the contemporary society. Thirteenth Festival of Croatian Digitisation Projects: Call for Papers

Submit your oral or poster presentation proposal for the Thirteenth Festival of Croatian Digitisation Projects by 7 April 2024. On 16 and 17 May 2024, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will be hosting the Thirteenth Festival of Croatian Digitisation Projects, the 2024 edition of D-fest, the Library’s annual gathering spotlighting issues surrounding the digitisation of cultural and scientific heritage, digital resources management systems, digital products and services and presenting the most recent digitisation projects in the heritage sector. The programme of D-fest 2024 focuses on the protection and preservation of digital heritage as an important aspect of heritage digitisation, along with other technical, technological and professional issues in this context and in relation to the use of digital heritage.

NSK waiving late return charges as part of 2024 NSK Day celebration

Just return that overdue book and you will completely be let off the hook! As part of the activities ushering in the celebration of the 2024 National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) Day, the Library will be waiving all late return charges from 19 to 24 February 2024. Overdue titles may be returned where they were issued – at the loan desk on the Library’s Ground Floor or in the reading rooms on Floors 3 and 4. On 2 February 2024, Professor Ivanka Stričević took office for her second term as the Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK), following her appointment by the Government of the Republic of Croatia at its 271st session, held on 13 December 2023. Before taking office as the NSK Director General for the first time, on 1 February 2020, Professor Stričević was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Information Infrastructure at the University of Zadar. NSK hosts presentation of BANE, art book spotlighting the oeuvre of painter Bane Milenković

On 1 February 2024, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted the presentation of a unique, bilingual art book spotlighting the oeuvre of Bane Milenković, a Zagreb-based and Novi Sad-born contemporary painter and a well-known name on the Croatian art scene since the 1980s, published in 2023 by Hamper Studio, the Zagreb award-winning branding and design consulting studio. With text in Croatian and English, this one-of-a-kind two-volume monograph, entitled BANE, was published with the support of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media.
