NSK publishes 20th issue of its journal, “The Voice of NSK”

The 20th issue of the journal of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK), The Voice of NSK, published as part of the celebration of NSK Day 2024, is now available in both print and electronic formats, with summaries in English.
This latest issue of the Library’s official journal gives an overview of its programmes and activities in 2023, bringing into spotlight new services and major NSK projects along with the treasures in its collections, professionals who through their dedicated work greatly advanced the library profession in Croatia and prominent figures in the history of Croatian culture.

The issue thus presents e-Universities, Croatia’s major project aimed at reforming and digitising Croatia’s higher education system, as part of which NSK has been tasked with initiating the digital transformation of libraries in Croatia’s higher education system and research sector. Particular emphasis has been given to Green Library for Green Croatia, the Library’s programme whose wide variety of activities in 2023 successfully marked the programme’s eighth year, crowned by international recognition which the Green Library programme gained by being among the winners of the 2023 Energy Globe Award.
Particularly standing out among the Library’s many cooperation initiatives in the past year presented in this issue is the one in which NSK and the Croatian Institute of Philosophy joined forces to create an exhibition highlighting Elza Kučera, the Croatian library pioneer, experimental psychologist and Croatia’s first in many other areas, who the two institutions additionally presented by making a short documentary with the support of The Conference of European National Librarians (CENL), which enabled the filming by awarding to NSK its Hidden Stories grant.
Presented among the Library’s many 2023 programmes is the publication of a unique bibliophile edition of the 1925 poetry collection by Croatian writer Fran Galović (Z mojih bregov) marking the 20th anniversary of the death of Croatian painter, graphic artist and scenographer Ivan Lovrenčić. Featuring Lovrenčić’s drawings, many of which are included among the holdings of the NSK Print Collection, the edition also includes a commentary by distinguished Croatian poet and Fellow of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Luko Paljetak.
