Acting as the representative of the Croatian academic library consortium, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) has concluded two transformative contracts with Wiley and IEEE, the high-profile international academic publishers.

The contracts enable Croatian researchers and the members of the Croatian academic community to publish open access and free of charge by the end of 2025 89 papers in Wiley journals and 40 papers in IEEE journals.

This comes as a result of NSK’s and the consortium’s continued efforts in the promotion of open access as one of the fundamental principles of open science policies and initiatives as well as the significance of both providing access for Croatian researchers to international scientific journals and databases on the one hand and of offering them opportunities on the other hand for open access publishing in international scientific journals and thus making Croatian research internationally visible in the leading academic journals covering all scientific fields.

In 2025, members of the Croatian academic community will also have access to the Web of Science and Scopus citation databases, the CAB Abstracts, HeinOnline, EconLit, MathSciNet and APA PsycInfo bibliographic databases, the Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews (EBMR), RSC Gold, IOPscience extra, JSTOR and Springer Nature full-text academic journals collections, the Statista statistical analysis tool and to CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform, covering research in the field of chemistry.

Apart from offering subscription-based access to the academic resources listed above, NSK’s eResources website also offers public access to a wide range of open access resources.
