NSK, the National and University Library in Zagreb, provides inter-library loans service, enabling loans between libraries in Croatia and abroad and a fast delivery of chapter/article scans of items in their collections.

Our inter-library loans service makes available to our registered members and other libraries resources not included in our collections and items in our collections available to other libraries in Croatia and abroad. The items can be requested as physical loans and chapter/article scans.

Inter-library loan requests

Before placing your request, please make sure that we do not hold the material you need by searching the NSK Catalogue.

Our registered members may place their inter-library loan requests in person, at the NSK Inter-library loans desk on the Library’s Ground Floor, or by emailing it at illnsk@nsk.hr, which e-address is also to be used for requests placed by libraries.

Persons who are not our registered members may place their inter-library loan requests through their local library.

Loan periods

Loan periods for items from other libraries range between two and four weeks, while the loan period for items from the NSK collections is thirty days. Chapter/article scans are delivered by email and may be used for purposes of private study for an indefinite period.

RapidILL interlibrary loan system

We provide access to RapidILL, a fast and cost-effective interlibrary loan system facilitating the processing and management of requests for article and book chapter scans.

Available to our registered members and all libraries in Croatia as a result of our cooperation with the University of Zagreb, the service will remain free of charge until the end of 2025.

  • Libraries in Croatia – over 20 pages – per page – €0.10
  • Libraries outside Croatia – up to 20 pages – 1 IFLA voucher; per each next 20 pages – ½ IFLA voucher
  • Libraries outside Croatia (no IFLA voucher) – up to 20 pages – €13.50; each additional page – €0.20
  • RapidILL – no charge
