NSK Doors Open Days 2026
18 & 19 February 2026
Come and visit us on 18 and 19 February 2026 and learn more about our work and the invaluable treasures of Croatian and world heritage that have been in the care of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) for more than four centuries.
Our Doors Open Days traditionally announce the celebration of the National and University Library in Zagreb Day and we dedicated their this year’s edition to great anniversaries spotlighting historic events and the related cultural artefacts in our collections.
The two-day programme will offer special guided tours of the Library, with various activities at the Day’s chill-out corner in the grand lobby. There you will be able to relax with special NSK colouring pages that we have prepared for you, by doing crosswords from the historical Croatian newspapers or picking for yourself some of the interesting NSK titles which the Library will be giving away to the visitors of the Days.
Art or history? Art and history!
While special guided tours on 18 February will spotlight the wealth of music and artistic non-book material that the Library curates, the tours on 19 February will present to the visitors the manuscripts, historical books and cartographic material preserved as part of NSK’s holdings.
Standing out among great Croatian anniversaries in 2026 is the 460th anniversary of the Siege of Szigetvár, whose historic significance is reflected in the particularly valuable items in the Library’s special collections that will be displayed as part of the tour programme:
