For students
As the central library of the University of Zagreb, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) provides a wide range of services for the University’s students as well as for the students of other Croatian and foreign universities, offering access to varied educational, academic and scientific resources.
NSK is also a place for creative encounters and get-togethers and one of Zagreb’s student hotspots.
Membership
You can easily apply for NSK membership in person or online. The membership is available at special prices for full-time and part-time undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students and students of foreign universities may also become members of the Library.
Reading rooms
Apart from peace and quiet, our spacious reading rooms offer a wide array of facilities and resources for reading, study and research. Open access computers are available, and bringing in laptops is allowed.
Extended hours services
From Monday to Friday between 21.00 and 24.00, our registered members may use our late hours study facilities, available on the Ground Floor, upon registration.
Resources
If you are preparing a seminar report, or your graduation, Master’s or doctoral thesis, you will find more than useful a wide range of academic resources in our Social Sciences and Humanities Reading Room (Floor 3) and Natural and Applied Sciences Reading Room (Floor 4), many of which are readily available on open access shelves.
Reading room requests and lending services
You may access the items in our collections in the Library’s reading rooms, where many titles are easily available on open access shelves. Also, some of our collection items are available for loan.
Subject search
If you are searching for resources for your research use our Ask a Librarian service and our subject librarians will compile for you a list of resources available as part of relevant information sources.
You may also always directly request assistance with finding resources at the help desks in our reading rooms.
Theses
Our reading rooms collections include the Doctoral and Master’s Theses Collection, on Floor 1. These and other theses’ digital versions are also available in the following national repositories:
