At the Periodicals Reading Room of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK), located on Floor 3, you may access a wide array of serial publications, ranging from newspapers, journals and magazines, through conference proceedings and similar collective works, to calendars. Also, you may order and consult books published in Croatia prior to 1900.

Up to ten items may be requested a day.

Newspapers, journals and magazines on microfilm

The serial titles available on microfilm may be viewed on the microfilm readers and scanners and a number of the titles in the Collection are also available as part of the Croatian Historical Periodicals digital archive.

For preservation-related reasons, the original copies of Croatian newspapers published by 1950 may only be viewed in a microform format.

Reprographic services and self-service scanning

In the Reading Room, you may request the reproductions of resources in the Collection and have them delivered to you as:

– photocopies

– digital copies (scans of the original items or photographic copies of microfilm images)

– microfilms (microfilm copies of microfilm images and paper prints of microfilms).

Reprographic services requests may be submitted by filling out a request form and emailing it at citaonica.periodike@nsk.hr, or in person, in the Collection’s reading room. 

A large format self-service scanner is also available in the Reading Room.

All reprographic services are charged according to NSK Fees and Charges, in compliance with the Regulations concerning the terms and conditions of using the holdings and services of the National and University Library in Zagreb.
