NSK summer opening hours: 14 July – 16 August 2025

14 July – 16 August 2025

In the period between 14 July and 16 August 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will be providing its services from 8.00 to 15.00 every workday, except on Wednesdays, when it will be open for users from 12.00 to 19.00. The Library will be closed on Saturdays, as well as on 4, 5 and 15 August 2025. Starting from 18 August 2025, the Library will resume its regular opening hours. NSK café and restaurant closing over summer On Friday, 11 July 2025, the café and restaurant operating as part of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will close at 15.00 and remain closed until further notice.

Miroslav Krleža Festival and NSK together promoting the legacy of an ever-inspiring giant of Croatian culture

On 2 July 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted another special get-together and exhibition commemorating Miroslav Krleža (1893-1981), one of the most distinguished, world-famous Croatian writers and thinkers of all time. Held as part of the 14th Miroslav Krleža Festival, which is taking place by 7 July 2025, the programme once more brought together the leading authorities on Krleža and included the exhibition of Krleža’s manuscripts which NSK preserves as part of its Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection.

On 24 June 2025, a delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov visited the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK). The visit was organised on the initiative of His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Croatia Anar Imanov, who emphasised the Library’s role as Croatia’s major cultural institution. NSK hosts 2025 ISBN Regional Meeting

10 & 11 June 2025

On 10 and 11 June 2025, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted the 11th ISBN Regional Meeting, which it organised in cooperation with the International ISBN Agency.  After a welcome address by the NSK Director General Professor Ivanka Stričević, in which she referred to the long and successful cooperation between NSK and the international agencies managing the ISBN and ISMN systems, the Head of the NSK Identifiers Division Danijela Getliher also welcomed to the meeting the representatives of the ISBN national agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, Republic of Srpska, Slovenia and Serbia along with the other meeting participants.

NSK takes part in the development of the Croatian Open Science Plan

On 19 May 2025, Croatia got the key strategic document for further advancement of open science and nationwide implementation of the principles of open science – the Croatian Open Science Plan. Officially presented on 20 May 2025 at the Zagreb Horizon Europe Annual Conference, themed Open Science, the Plan defines guidelines, objectives and recommendations for the implementation of the principles of open science in Croatia’s research sector and identifies the activities and expectations in relation to individual researchers, research institutions and decisionmakers.
